Taylor Central Appraisal District Tax Parcels

Taylor Central Appraisal District (Taylor CAD) attempts to: 1) identify all real and personal property, and 2) then value each parcel. Their primary mission is to divide the property taxes paid to entities in the county as accurately and equitably as possible. Taylor Central Appraisal District had 93,000 tax parcels in 2021 and 14 appraisers to value them and conduct tax protest hearings. That works out to 6,643 tax parcels per appraiser.

Taylor Central Appraisal District has a lean level of staffing. We estimate about 25% of appraisal district appraisers work on valuation while the balance work on measuring new property and other inspections. We further assume the appraisers have 3 months or 66 days to complete valuations. Based on these assumptions, an appraiser at Taylor Central Appraisal District completes 403 valuations per day during the valuation period. The high pace of valuation per day is illustrative of the difficulty of accurately and uniformly valuing all 93,000 properties in Taylor County.
